She has enabled me to appreciate and become more aware of the subtle pathways of connection between mind and muscle, top to bottom and side to side. This new awareness has improved and made more efficient my posture, my daily performance of simple routine tasks, and a remarkable ability to recover more quickly from stress and strain. “Feldenkrais lessons have helped develop my brain and body as an athlete, a thinker, and a mover in everyday-life. When I began having weekly lessons, I had a knee injury. I play soccer multiple times a week, normally on very hard surfaces. I wanted to learn how to strengthen my knee and prevent further injury. I also wanted be faster. Joanna verbally-led me through movements that made me aware of my bone structure and my tendencies as a mover. She also manually handled and moved parts of my body in a way that showed what comes natural and what feels awkward. At the end of each lesson, I felt I had learned something new about my body (and its connection with my mind). I felt more free as a mover, I felt taller, and more in touch with the system of my whole bone structure. I always left intrigued, never exhausted or bored. Sometimes the movements felt like riddles for my brain. I have learned skills that help me run, walk, sit, bend over, get up, carry things, etc. with amazing efficiency. I am less prone to injury. I am more comfortable in my skin. I didn’t know what to expect with Feldenkrais, but I have learned a lot, and I use the movements every single day.”
